Who we are:
Principal Designer, Aaron Coates, studied
architecture at City College of San Francisco, and apprenticed under
Paolo Soleri at Arcosanti, an urban laboratory 70 miles north of Phoenix,
Arizona, exploring the philosophy of arcology (architecture +ecology)
while practicing the arts of silt casting, passive solar design, and
cabinetmaking. Aaron continued his hands on approach to architecture
by learning the trades of carpentry and drafting.
Aaron is a nationally certified building designer (CPBD), LEED AP,
an accredited Green Verifier for the National Association of Home Builders,
and an active member of the U.S. Green Building Council and Architectural
Woodwork Institute. Dedicated to creating sustainable solutions and
healthy built environments, Aaron is currently working towards a sustainable
agriculture certificate from Washington State University. Most proudly,
he holds the 2009 Island County Fair Blue Ribbon for his handmade bagels.
